Flipped Canvas Boot Camp

August 23 and 24, the Faculty Center and Instructional Design Services will offer sessions that align with content in the Canvas Basics Course. Each session will include tips and tricks, examples from Canvas Ambassadors, and time for Q&A. As the title suggests, this is built on a flipped model and is not designed as an alternative to the Canvas Basics CourseAs with a flipped modality, the expectation is that faculty will review the related materials prior to the synchronous sessions, which will apply the knowledge and answer questions rather than presenting material.

All sessions will be held via Zoom:

  • Modules 1 & 2: Tues., Aug 23, 2:00-3:30pm
  • Modules 3 & 4: Wed., Aug. 24, 9:00-10:30am
  • Modules 5 & 6: Wed., Aug. 24, 2:00-3:30pm
  • Canvas Training Course - Starting May 2

This is self-directed course that offers both the technology training with instructional design principles, and culturally responsive pedagogy resources. This course is open to any and all faculty who want to progress through the course in a linear fashion, or pick and choose based on your needs and interest.

Faculty who complete each of the modules will receive $250. When you begin the Canvas course, you will need to sign up via a quiz to receive your compensation. The deadline to sign up is June 1.

Watch a short video tour of the Canvas course which will show you how to sign up for compensation, how to work through the modules and more.

All courses from Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 have been migrated (copied) from Moodle to Canvas.

IITS has worked hard since Spring to make sure that your courses from Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 are available in Canvas. IITS has migrated over 2,277 Fall 2021 courses and 2,226 Spring 2022 courses. These courses are now available for you to customize and prepare for your Fall 2022 container/course shells.

To do:

  • Canvas courses are at https://cc.csusm.edu
  • Follow the Canvas customize list guide to select which courses you want displayed on the dashboard. Not all course containers are displayed.
  • If you don’t see your fall 2022 course, contact your department.
  • Fall 2022 containers/course shells are available and new ones are added daily at 6AM as instructors are assigned in PeopleSoft/MyCSUSM

If you would IITS like to import a migrated (copied) or development course for you to your actual fall 2022 container/course shell, send an email to cchelp@csusm.edu with the course subject, number, and the link to the Canvas course you want imported/copied from and the course subject, number, and course link to the course you want it imported/copied into. Please note that they are experiencing a high volume of requests at this time. We will work diligently to support unique individual needs as fast as possible.
